Surfing

Sri Lanka offers year round surfing locations. The availability of the locations depend on the monsoon season when you are visiting Sri Lanka.

Arugambay on the east side of the island is one of the best surfing site in the world. Surfing season is May to October. The east cost is famous for the long waves.

Hikkaduwa south of Colombo is the nearest to the city. Surf Season is from October to April.

Golf

There are three 18 hole golf courses in Sri Lanka at present. While two of them are over 100 years old the third is a just a couple of years old. Green fees are among the cheapest any one could imagine.

Cricket

Sri Lanka is a cricket crazy land. There are annual matches between major schools (Some have held more and 100 events) and between sports clubs of all sizes and tourists are never far from an encounter at many parts of the island. International fixtures are given in the Events calendar.

Sri Lanka National Cycle Route

Established with the assistance of the USAID the 240kM Sri Lanka national cycle runs southwards starting near Colombo. The cycle route avoids busy trunk roads passing tranquil villages, paddy fields and plantations and an excellent way to experience the true village life of the Sri Lankans.

Scuba Diving

The Pearl of the Indian Ocean receives its name for its sheer beauty... This beauty doesn't stop at its shore lines, extending underneath the clear blue seas where lies the fascinating world of a sub-aquatic wonderland which can only be fully appreciated by snorkeling and Scuba Diving.

The vibrant and beautifully shaped coral is home to a varied number of fish species that include the Emperor Angel, the Moorish Idol, Powder Blue Surgeon, Sergeant-Major, Lion, Unicorn, Parrot Fish, Clown, Porcupine, Rays, Eels and others.
