Yoga and Meditation Centres
Meditation is increasingly practised by many
as an exercise to increase the control over
one's mind, to achieve mental harmony and to
reduce the stresses of everyday lives. Although
meditation is a pre-Buddhist era practise in
ancient India, meditation methods are more structured
and deeply explained in Buddhism. For this reason
some of the meditation centres are amalgamated
with Buddhist institutions.
All yoga and meditation centres are open to
followers of any faith and there is no requirement
of abandoning one's faith if they wish to pursue
studies on yoga or meditation. For centuries
meditation has flourished in the country in
Buddhist monasteries and some are still in existence.
Not all meditation centres may offers courses
or facilities for Yoga.
